Could not instantiate mail function error in Joomla Sites

Hello, are you having sites,which are running on Joomla or other CMS and you are using Mail function most of the times,like in CONTACT US Section, SEND ENQUIRY section or REQUEST A QUOTE section ??

Are you getting such errors also,

' Could not instantiate mail function '

Well,this can happen due to following reasons;

  • PHP function mail() has been disabled or not working.
  • You are running an older version on PHP in your server.

Here are the steps to solve it;

  • If you are running Joomla,then goto Admin panel > Global Configuration > Server > Mail Settings > Mailer  and select SENDMAIL there,instead of PHP MAIL FUNCTION.
  • If the above point doesnt solve your issue,then the last best thing is to contact your webhost and ask them to rectify the PHP Mail Function in the PHP in their server and also ask them to upgrade the PHP to the latest version.

I get this message when I try to log in to Joomla. Because of this I thought perhaps I forgot my username or password, and chose the option to have it mailed to me.

It gives me two messages as follows:

Could not instantiate mail function.

My friend faced this problem that Mail function could not be initiated message is coming and Message is not sending. when he was working with the contact us

Working on this problem we got that controller.php file and and contact.php file which are placed at subdirectories of com_contact have some problems. But we had a completely working joomla site in other folder of the same server so we replaced :
controller.php , contact.php by the corresponding files from the working joomla site.

now the error message is gone and mails are send and received happily.

also The SMTP settings should be configured care fully.We put the SMTP host name ,the port, and selected NO for SMTP, we did choose php mailer . SMTP host name and SMTP username and password left blank.

As I am not that familiar with joomla and i am working with drupal &h e is working with .net Still now we don't know whether is solution will work for all.
