Ok, for that you should secure your website in SSL. Virtuemart is a great eCommerce Application for Joomla and its the most famous eCommerce Application now. If you running a Joomla + Virtuemart site, then you should secure it with SSL.

Here are the steps to do that;

1.       Buy a Private SSL from your webhost and ask them to set it up. They will set up the key files in your site root folder.

2.       Goto configuration.php of your site and edit the var $live_site = 'https://www.joomlahackers.net’;        . Make sure,you enter https there.

3.       Then goto your .htaccess file and add these lines to the end of the file,

 

{xtypo_sticky} RewriteEngine On

RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off

RewriteRule (.*) https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} {/xtypo_sticky}

 

 

4.       Goto   {xtypo_sticky} Main Menu > Paramters (System) > SSL Enabled. {/xtypo_sticky}

5.       Goto    administrator/components/com_virtuemart/ virtuemart.cfg.php  and find

{xtypo_sticky}  define( 'URL', 'http:// www.joomlahackers.net’/' );

 

define( 'SECUREURL', 'https:// www.joomlahackers.net’/' );  {/xtypo_sticky}

 

Make sure,the structure is same as above. First is http and second is with https.

6.       At the same file,   find this,

{xtypo_sticky}   if ( (!empty($_SERVER['HTTPS']) && $_SERVER['HTTPS'] != 'on') || $_SERVER['SERVER_PORT'] == '80' ) {     {/xtypo_sticky}

 

In tis line,where you find ON, must be OFF for you. So change that to ON and in the PORT field,it will be 443 for you. Just change is to 80.
